Would sure like to review this coffee – however, Amazon has started using On Trac, a real lame carrier for local deliveries; and, as a result, I don’t have my order. On-Trac is horrible. I am amazed that Amazon would risk their reputation on this 3rd rate company. There is no schedule to their deliveries, they can’t provide information when you call customer service, and seem to be run on a shoestring. Their call center personnel do seem quite used to apologizing for their incompetent delivery personnel. I’ve had delivery persons leave delivery notices without calling in through our security system. I’ve had delivery persons leave “second notices” on their first half-hearted delivery attempt. I’ve had deliver persons appear at off-hours (late evening, etc) and say they were “in the neighborhood so they thought they’d drop the package off”. That’s not the quality of service Amazon should be providing, and they need to stop using this company.

The coffee is grainy so that it gets left behind in the Keurig machines coil and comes into my next brewed cup which may be something else.

I don’t see how this can be considered French Roast. I love French Roast coffee but this is very weak. Reminds me of the coffee I get at waiting areas such as when you are at the car dealership waiting for your car. If this is extra bold then I would hate to taste their medium or light coffee. I have tried three of this brands Extra bold varieties now and have yet to consider any of the three as Extra Bold. My Mother-in-law likes it though. She is a light coffee drinker. So it seems that this coffee is headed her way.

I had high hopes for this coffee, having read the reviews. My usual coffee is the Donut Shop variety, and I expected the Diedrich French Roast to be slightly weaker and more flavorful. In reality, it’s bitter. Just bitter. Church-basement-percolator-coffee bitter. I actually threw the first cup out and made a second, wondering if I’d gotten a dud pod. Usually I’ve found that the more bitter coffees also have richer flavors that compensate for the bitterness… not so with the Diedrich. I am the first to confess I’m not a connoisseur, but my layman’s palate detected little to no flavor under the overwhelming bite. This is nasty stuff. I’ll be sticking with my Donut Shop pods from now on.

Also, something to note, as I didn’t see it mentioned on the product page and I didn’t research carefully enough before buying… “Frustration-Free Packaging” in this case means a shipping box filled with loose pods. Call me crazy, but I find that considerably MORE frustrating than the handy little dispenser boxes.
