that this is a low acid coffee. I bought it originally because it was a whole bean decaffeinated coffee that was pretty reasonably priced. I only realized it was low acid after I had already made the decision to order it, but I figured I'd give it a try anyway. The taste is smooth, yet rich and very satisfying. There is no indication that this is a coffee that is anything other than a typical delicious premium Columbian brew. If you like a smooth tasting coffee that is still rich and in no way weak or "weird" tasting, try the El Grano Suave bean. You won't be disappointed.

When I found out I had a bladder condition that absolutely required that I quit coffee, I went on the search for a very low acid decaf. I tried so many! They all tasted like brown water or worse. THEN I discovered The Bean Company El Grano Suave My oh MY! My house once again smells like coffee and my mornings are back to normal! It really is delicious. And when friends come by I can still ask them if they'd like a cup of coffee and they never know it is low acid decaf! So, I am a dedicated fan. And also so glad it is now available on Amazon.com. One thing...I accidentally ordered the whole bean when I meant to order ground. Read the entire description carefully before placing your order and enjoy your mornings again!!!!!

I loved the Blonde coconut sugar right off the bat as I don't love using traditional white sugar and have never been a huge cane or date sugar fan. This version of the coconut sugar is recommended to replace brown sugar. By looks, I didn't see a great difference between the blonde and regular. The regular did taste a bit richer. Also, the texture of this sugar is quite different ~ it is dryer, not sticky like traditional brown sugar.

Altough we don't use a lot of white sugar, we do love brown sugar for our oatmeal and little bits added to pies and desserts. I wasn't sure how our 4-yr old would take to a change in her often requested oatmeal, but surprisingly she loved it and didn't mind at all! I am impressed!

Overall, I am happy to come across a sustainable, organic alternative to common sugars!

I have really enjoyed using this coconut sugar. I used it when baking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and the flavor and texture were great. You substitute 1 to 1 and it has a sweet flavor. My kids love the flavor which is only slightly different from sugar. It's worth switching for the health benefits and is easier to bake with than agave.

Interchangeable with sugar when baking, October 11, 2011

I wasn't totally sure what to expect when I received my coconut sugar. What I did receive was two bags of sugar, one labeled "blonde". Both sugars were caramel in color with the blonde being a little lighter. The smell and taste was very similar to brown sugar, however the texture was dryer. The granules were not a consistent size as with cane sugar. No "coconut" taste whatsoever.

I wanted to bake with this sugar to see if it was interchangeable with cane sugar. Coconut sugar is supposed to be less calories and have a lower glycemic level compared to cane sugar. As I understand glycemic levels, the lower the level, the easier it is for your body to metabolize, thus not creating that "sugar crash".

To compare to cane sugar, I used a 1:1 ratio as suggested by the company. I ate it raw on cinnamon toast (blonde), and made pancakes (blonde) and Toll House cookies with it (both blonde and regular). For the most part I found it to be completely interchangeable with cane sugar in recipes. I noticed that the granules left "freckles" of sugar and didn't completely blend in, however, texture and taste was very close to cane sugar. If health reasons have you making the switch, this is a great option!

When I received the coffee, the "best if used by" date was less than a month from the date of when I received it. I am not really happy with the almost "expired" date. This is not the case with other vendors that I purchased K-cups from.
